Pay attention to what you find in a public toilet!

Hooks in public toilets are very handy. In fact, we usually get annoyed when there isn’t one. You can hang your coat or bag on it so you don’t have to put them on the ground. Chances are you’ve never looked at what these hooks look like exactly, because why would you?

You might want to start paying a little more attention to what you hang your coat on in a public toilet, though.

Spy Hooks
Apparently, you can buy clothes hooks with little cameras in them all over the world. These are called ‘spy hooks’, and they’re mostly attached to the walls in women’s rooms. Everything that happens in there gets filmed by the camera and the person who put it up can then download the video on their computer.

Police
The police from Florida, USA, were the ones to first warn people about the use of spy hooks. “Anyone who has a public restroom on their property needs to check them closely,” said the sheriff of the investigating police force. “If you find anything suspicious you think might contain a hidden camera, don’t touch it. Call us right away and we will respond. Keep in mind, though, that these are very small cameras that can be mounted in many locations and hidden in many seemingly every-day items.”

For sale online
The hooks have only been found in American public toilets so far, but that’s no guarantee they can’t be found elsewhere. British paper The Daily Mail has confirmed that people can very easily buy a clothes hook like this on the Internet, and in Europe as well. And it’s not even that big of an investment, because they only cost around 13 dollars.
