Prince Louis was christened at the Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace

The world rejoiced when Prince Louis was born in April and they will probably do so again when they see the lovely pictures from his christening. The royal family gathered on Monday the 9th of July for Louis’ christening and everyone seemed overjoyed and very happy to be there judging by the photos Kensington Palace has just shared.

Prince Louis looks adorable in his royal christening robe.

Kate

Besides Louis, who reportedly slept through the entire ceremony, Kate also takes center stage in these pictures. She looks absolutely stunning in a cream-coloured dress by Alexander McQueen and lovingly smiles down at Louis in many of the pictures. Louis was wearing a christening robe that is an exact replica of the one made in 1841 for Queen Victoria’s eldest daughter.

Family

The world is familiar with Prince George and Princess’ Charlotte’s cuteness by now, and they delivered this time as well. In one of the photos, Charlotte gazes lovingly at the baby brother and George is all smiles. A lot of extended family was there to witness the baptism as well. In fact, there were more Middletons present at the christening than members of the royal family. This was partly due to the fact that Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip didn’t attend. The reason for this wasn’t very clear, but Buckingham Palace assured that it was not based on health grounds.

Photographer

The photographer’s statement about the day explains why everyone was looking so happy: “Everyone was so relaxed and in such good spirits, it was an absolute pleasure. I only hope I have captured some of that joy in my photographs.” Well, we think he certainly did!
