Wow, that’s a lot of money!

Your wedding day is a very special occasion, of course, and one many people save up for, sometimes for years. The dress, the location, the car, the reception… When you put it all together, it can cost quite a bit of money. The sum can easily climb into the thousands. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding, however, cost a little bit more than that. We’re not talking about thousands here, but about millions…

This royal wedding cost 8 million pounds more than that of Kate and William.

We all know a wedding isn’t cheap, but the amount of money that’s spent on a royal wedding is way beyond what most of us can dream of. The royal wedding between Harry and Meghan was the wedding of the year. Everyone was talking about it and everyone was happy that the former Suits actress had found her knight in shining armour. So, how much money did that special wedding cost? A whopping 32 million pounds! That’s roughly 36 million Euros or 41 million dollars.

The dress

It’s been said that Harry and Meghan’s wedding cost 8 million pounds more than Harry’s older brother William’s wedding. One of the explanations for this is that the security had to be increased as a result of a higher level of threats from terrorist organisations. Besides that, Meghan’s dress was also more expensive than Kate’s. Kate spent 250,000 pounds on her dress, and Meghan paid 390,000 pounds for hers.

Although we don’t know about all of the separate costs of the wedding, we do know what the following elements have cost:

• PA system: £232,810
• Banners and flags: £14,081
• Payment to council: £1,084,512
• Staff travel: £3,875
• Accreditation passes: £2,907
• Meghan’s wedding dress: £390,000
