Did you watch The Nanny back in the day?
‘Mister Sheffieeeeeld!’ If we try, we can still hear the voice of the nanny named Fran. American comedy series The Nanny was extremely popular in the 90s and the copious reruns are still being watched a lot as well. The series aired between 1993 and 1999, the climax of course being Fran and Maxwell’s marriage, which viewers had been waiting for for years.
And as if that wasn’t amazing enough, mortal enemies Niles the butler and Maxwell’s business partner C.C. Babcock ended up together as well!
Fran Drescher, who flawlessly played the role of the nanny, acted in a couple of B-movies after the series ended, but she never managed to do something quite as popular as The Nanny. These days, 57-year-old Drescher is dedicated to promoting women’s health and occasionally takes on a role in a musical.
Charles Shaughnessy is now grey fox of 60 years old. After his role as the strict but sweet Maxwell Sheffield he’s had a few guest appearances in hit shows such as Law & Order, The Mentalist and Days of Our Lives. In 2007, he became the fifth Baron Shaughnessy in the United Kingdom after the death of his second cousin. He and his wife Susan have two daughters together.
Daniel Davis played the role of butler, chauffeur and professional jokester Niles. Before he gained fame as Niles, Davis played professor Moriarty in Star Trek and he’s had quite the career after The Nanny ended as well. He’s built a very successful career in theatre. He played his last film role in 2006, in The Prestige.
Move on to page 2 to see how the Sheffield siblings, C.C. and the rest of the cast are doing!
