The pregnancy announcement wasn’t very well thought through, it seems
Ever since the moment Meghan Markle and Prince Harry said ‘I do’ to each other, royalty fans have been hoping and waiting for a royal pregnancy announcement. Yesterday, Kensington Palace announced that Harry and Meghan will become parents in the spring of 2019. However, the announcement wasn’t as tactful as you would’ve expected from the royal family.
The timing of the pregnancy announcement was a bit painful.
Remembrance
Every news item about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex gets devoured and every picture is attentively studied. It’s clear that the British people really love the royal couple, as do a lot of people in the rest of the world. We’re very happy for Meghan and Harry and we’re overjoyed they’re expecting a baby. We do think the announcement could’ve been handled a little more thoughtfully, though. The 15th of October, which is the day of the announcement, is also Pregnancy And Infant Loss Remembrance Day in a lot of parts of the world.
Criticism
Every year, from the 9th of October until the 15th of October, Baby Loss Awareness Week takes place. This week is especially observed in Canada, the United States of America, Norway, Italy, Kenya and parts of Australia. Despite the joy and happiness a lot of people felt when the couple announced the news, there were also a lot of people who were very critical on social media. People explained that they thought it wasn’t very handy, or even plain dumb, that the announcement took place on the very last day of this sensitive week.
#royalbaby couldn’t wait one more day to be announced before the end of #BabyLossAwarenessWeek ?

Not sure why the #royalbaby news had to be announced on the last day of #BabyLossAwarenessWeek. I’ll be lighting a candle for the stars and angels. #poortiming #showempathy #alwaysbekind

Well I can’t think of a better time to announce another #RoyalBaby, during #BabyLossAwarenessWeek right before the #waveoflight ?
