Four times more bacteria
In their research report, Carrentals shows that the CFU levels are highest on the steering wheels inside the cars. On average, 629 CFU was found on the steering wheels. If you compare this to your phone, for example, there are six times more bacteria on a steering wheel. Phones have an average CFU of 100 and the toilet seat of a public toilet has an average of 172 CFU. If you calculate this, you’ll realise there are four times more bacteria on a steering wheel than on a toilet seat. Gross!
