Stick a few skewers into an avocado pit and see what happens in this time lapse! Amazing!

This way you’ll never have to buy an avocado again!

Avocados are absolutely delicious and extremely nutritious as well. This green fruit contains tons of essential nutrients like potassium, vitamin C, B5, B6, K and E. Apart from that, they’re also a great source of fibers and contain the same good fatty acids that are also in olive oil. These fatty acids are particularly good for your heart.

But did you know it’s very easy to grow your own avocados?

What do you need?

It isn’t hard at all; you just have to know how it works. All you need is an avocado pit, a glass of water, a few skewers and (later on in the process) a flower pot and some soil to grow the plant in. The video below shows a time lapse of 43 days in which an avocado pit grows into a real avocado plant. We’re definitely going to try this at home!

What do you need to do?

Make sure you fill a large glass with water, almost until the edge. Stick four or five skewers into the avocado pit. Place the pit into the glass. The skewers will lean on the glass and half of the pit will be submerged in the water while the other half remains dry. Put the glass close to a window so it’s near daylight. Wait for a couple of days and add new water to the glass when the pit is no longer touching the water. Has a stalk of a few centimeters grown out of the pit? Then you should transfer the pit to the flower pot with soil. Regularly water the tiny plant and before you know you’ve got your own avocado plant!
