THIS is why you should also open your windows when it’s cold outside!

You should air out your home even when it’s cold outside

It’s cold outside and in some places in the world it’s even below freezing right now. That’s fun for the people among us who like ice skating and building snow men, but it’s a lot less fun when your home is starting to cool down as well. You might be tempted to close all windows and vents and put the heater on high, but you’d be much better off not doing that.

Always keep your windows open, even when it’s very cold outside.

Closed doors and windows

When it’s cold outside, it’s very tempting to close everything up and hide away under a blanket on the sofa. No cold air in your home; that’s what you want. Nevertheless, you shouldn’t stop airing out your home, because clear and fresh air is essential for your health, both physical and mental. Airing out your home through the use of a window or an air vent is the only way to let moisture leave your home. If you don’t do this, you can get headaches, sleeping problems, skin issues and allergies.

Dangerous

And that’s not all, because it can even be dangerous to completely close up your home. If you not allow your home to air out and you turn on a badly maintained central heating system, you can actually cause carbon monoxide poisoning. The symptoms of this are a headache, nausea, dizziness and fatigue. Extended exposure to carbon monoxide can cause loss of consciousness or even death. Don’t make the mistake of only opening your windows for an hour; after half an hour the healthy air has disappeared already. Air vents are the best solution when it’s so cold outside!
