There are little things in life as annoying as lying awake at night or waking up and not feeling rested. Do you spend a lot of time at night just staring at the ceiling instead of sleeping? Chances are one of the causes below is the culprit. Luckily, some problems are easily fixed.

You’ll be able to sleep through the night soon!

Stress
Do you have a lot of deadlines or personal issues that have you worried? There’s a good chance these are what’s keeping you up at night. Stressful things directly influence your sleep. If you want to avoid these sleeping problems, it’s important to relax before you go to bed. Don’t do this by watching Netflix until you can’t keep your eyes open anymore, because watching something on TV only provides you with more stimuli. Instead, try reading a book or writing about your day and your feelings in a journal.

Temperature
It’s very important for a good night’s rest that your bedroom has the right temperature. So how warm should it be? Between 18 and 21 °C is perfect. You should also take your personal preferences into account, though. Some people feel cold much more quickly than others.

Peeing
Do you wake up at night because you have to pee? Very annoying. Luckily, this is easy to fix. Stop drinking water two hours before you go to bed and you’ll notice you’ll sleep like a baby.

Alcohol
You might fall asleep quicker if you’ve had a glass of wine or two, but you do sleep much lighter and less easy. Chances are every small sound will wake you up. The solution is obvious, of course…

Mattress
It’s very important that you have a mattress that’s comfortable to you. You should also pay attention to what your mattress does for your back, though. If your mattress is too hard, this can cause pressure on your lower back and your hips, while a soft mattress can cause other annoying problems. Our tip is to get some good advice about this so you end up choosing the right mattress for you. Also keep in mind that you should replace your mattress every 10 years.
