Nearly everyone forgets to wash THIS item of clothing and it can make you sick!

We’ll wash this item way more often from now on!

Winter is in full swing, so chances are you’ve taken out your hat, mittens and scarves again. About that scarf, though… How often have you washed it? You might think your scarf protects you from getting a cold, but it’s actually making you sick!

Your beloved scarf is a breeding ground for bacteria.

Washing
When winter sets in, we love to hide our faces in scarfs; the bigger the better. It turns out that wrapping a big scarf around your face isn’t very healthy, though. Because, let’s be honest; how often do you wash your scarf? Probably not as often as you do a jumper, right? Some people forget to wash this item of clothing, which provides bacteria with the perfect place to live and multiply.

Soapy water
The bacteria multiply at lightning speed and they can really make you sick. That’s why it’s best to wash your scarf every now and then. You can do so by making some soapy water with lukewarm water and a few drops of baby shampoo. This is a very unaggressive solution, which ensures that your scarf will stay pretty. Leave it to soak in the soapy water for 10 minutes and then transfer it to a tub of cold water. Refresh the cold water until no soap comes out of the scarf anymore. Carefully squeeze the water out of the material and leave it to dry. This way, you don’t damage your favourite scarf and you can enjoy it for the rest of the winter!
