You might be able to reduce your heartburn with these food products

We all experience it from time to time: heartburn. This unpleasant, burning sensation in the esophagus and stomach can cause a lot of pain and discomfort. There are multiple different things that can help to reduce or prevent heartburn but you never know when it’s going to happen and you might not always have the right products at hand. Luckily, there are three food products that can help and you might already have them sitting in a kitchen cupboard at home.

Eating one of these three things is said to help reduce the burning sensation in your stomach and esophagus.

Causes of heartburn

Heartburn is especially likely to strike after eating a heavy meal. This is because the pressure in your stomach is raised after eating a meal. The sphincter-like muscle of the stomach and esophagus is opened at this point to be able to get rid of excess air. When this muscle (the lower esophageal sphincter) is opened, there’s a good chance stomach acid comes up as well. People who suffer from heartburn more than twice a week probably have a sphincter that is open more often than average. This can be caused by fat or spicy food, being overweight, pregnancy, alcohol, stress or fatigue.
