Lemon water has tons of benefits

Diet gurus are recommending it en masse: drinking a glass of (tepid) water with some fresh lemon juice when you’ve just woken up. We knew drinking a glass of water in the morning is good for you, but apparently it’s even better to add some lemon to it as well. But why is that exactly?

We’ve got the answer!

Boost
Something to keep in mind is the fact that lemons are full of amazing and healthy stuff for your body. They contain vitamin B, C, potassium, proteins, antioxidants, calcium, magnesium and pectin. Pectin has a positive effect on your immune system, which means you’ll get sick less quickly. So, that’s benefit number one already.

Empty stomach
If you want to get the most out of your lemon water, it’s important to drink it in the morning on an empty stomach. This way it’ll be most effective when it comes to cleansing your body from toxins. Plus, it stimulates weight loss. That’s because your liver produces more bile if you drink the lemon water on an empty stomach. In turn, that leads to you being less hungry and digesting food quicker.

Oral hygiene
Drinking lemon water is also good for your oral hygiene because of the acids contained in a lemon. These acids make sure that bacteria as well as any remains of the food you’ve eaten will disappear from your mouth. This will help against that white layer on your tongue and it will also make sure your breath smells better. And then one more benefit: all the healthy stuff in lemons will also give your nails and skin a boost!
