deep vein thrombosis

Luckily, deep vein thrombosis in your leg can be prevented

Thrombosis is more common than you might think. On average, seventy (!) people a day get deep vein thrombosis in one of their legs, so it can be really helpful to be aware of the symptoms. Even more so because it’s essential that you take action as soon as you start having trouble with thrombosis.

This is how you can recognise deep vein thrombosis in your leg.

Cause

Deep vein thrombosis is caused by sitting still (or lying still) for too long. That means that it can arise when you’re on bed rest or if you simply sit too long or too much during the day; when you have an office job, for example. When this happens, a blood clot forms in one of the veins in your leg which causes your blood to be unable to flow through this vein properly. Deep vein thrombosis in your leg doesn’t always come with pain, but there are a few symptoms you should be aware of. That way, you can catch it in time.
