4. Time
Adhere to the time allotment for your contact lenses. Do you wear weekly lenses? Actually throw them out after seven days. Keep track of the days when you wear monthly lenses so you don’t accidentally wear them for too long. You could set a timer or alarm on your phone that will remind you to change your lenses after 30 days.
3. Storage
When’s the last time you’ve cleaned or replaced your contact lens case? If you’re thinking “uhm…” it’s time to buy a new one or to properly disinfect the one you have now. Since you’re always keeping moisture in there along with the lenses, your case is a nice place for bacteria and fungi to grow.
2. Dirty hands
It sounds obvious to make sure your hands are clean before you put in your lenses, but a lot of people don’t properly wash their hands before they put in or take out theirs. Wash your hands with soap and properly dry them. Drying them is at least as important as washing them!
1. Too long
Take out your lenses on time, because if you wear them for too long at a time you’ll end up with dry and irritated eyes. In the long run, this can damage your eyes and maybe even cause you to no longer be able to wear lenses at all. So, take out your lenses on time in the evening and give your eyes a little rest by wearing your glasses. Be careful with your eyes; you might not be able to reverse the damage once it’s done.
