The temperature in your bedroom makes a big difference
There are few things we enjoy more than getting into our warm bed at the end of a long day. Especially now that it’s so terribly cold outside, it’s getting very attractive to go to bed early, and to turn the heater on high right before bed time. So, it’s pretty obvious that the temperature in your bedroom is important to your comfort in bed.
But did you know that it can also influence your dreams?
Dreams
A lot of people love going to sleep in a cold room because that way they can curl up underneath a warm blanket, but it’s also been said that sleeping in a cold room can have a negative effect on your dreams. Researchers have indeed found out that the temperature in your bedroom can influence the quality of your sleep as well as the contents of your dreams.
Scent
When it’s too hot or too cold in your bedroom, you’ll most likely sleep less soundly and wake up more often, which causes you to remember your dreams better. This might lead you to think you have nightmares more often. Not just the temperature, but the scent in your room also has an influence on how you sleep! German researchers investigated this matter. Some of the participants in this study woke up to the scent of roses, while others woke up to the smell of rotten eggs. It turned out that the people who woke up in a room smelling of roses indicated having more positive dreams than the people who woke up to the smell of rotten eggs.
