Not all nutritional advice is good advice
Dietitians are often pretty shocked by the advice their clients have been given. A lot of these clients are at the end of their wits and don’t know how to lose weight in a healthy way. These are the tips everyone should stop believing, according to nutritional experts.
You’ll be surprised what nutritional advice some people give.
‘Stop eating gluten’
A lot of people are convinced that gluten are bad for the human body and that you should avoid them if you want to lose weight. Nutritionist Georgie Fear vehemently disagrees with this. “Even if going gluten-free keeps you away from pasta and bread, there are plenty of gluten-free goodies like cookies and cake that sneak all those calories back into your diet anyway.” Plus, gluten-free products are much more expensive, so you’ll be spending way more money as well.
‘Exercising is the key’
This is nonsense. Devon Golem from the University of New Mexico explains that there’s scientific research that proves changing your diet works much better than just exercising a lot. Exercising on a regular basis often causes temporary weight loss. If you want to achieve long-term weight loss, you’ll need to find a combination of exercise and a good and healthy diet.
‘As long as the food is healthy, it doesn’t matter how much you eat’
Wrong! Nuts, avocado and olive oil seem like very healthy choices. Yet if you eat too much of these products, you will gain weight. So, make you sure you pay attention to the size of your portions.
