Tomato ketchup
Back in the day, people just put tomato ketchup in the pantry or kitchen cupboard, because it had a long shelf life, right? Yes, but “had” is the operative word here. These days, tomato ketchup contains a lot less salt than it did before, which makes it go bad more quickly. It can spoil and even go mouldy. If you put the bottle in the fridge, that won’t happen nearly as quickly!
Maple syrup
Do you use maple syrup to sweeten your dishes? Or just pour a good load of it over your pancakes? Then you should store the stuff in the fridge. There’s a ton of water in the syrup and that can go mouldy when the bottle has been opened. Yikes. Put the bottle in the fridge to avoid the mould!
