Are your wine glasses looking foggy? Cloudy glasses will be a thing of the past with this simple trick!

Your formerly cloudy glasses will look pristine once more!

Picking out the perfect fine wine glasses can be a difficult task, but also very rewarding! It’s such a pity when those pretty glasses start to lose their shine and get a foggy and cloudy look to them. Even after giving them another wash, they still don’t look the way they’re supposed to. What’s up with that?

Minerals
We can tell you one thing straight away; washing cloudy glasses again will not solve the problem. It’s actually the washing that has caused it in the first place. What has happened is that hard-water minerals have created a film on the glasses, which is what makes them look foggy. Another possibility is that your dishwasher has permanently etched the glass, which unfortunately can’t be fixed. The hard-water film can definitely be banished, though, and you only need two ingredients!

The trick
All you need is some white vinegar, baking soda and a microfiber cloth. Soak your cloudy glasses in white vinegar for 5 minutes. The vinegar will help to dissolve the minerals. If you still see some cloudy spots after these five minutes, you can carefully rub them off with the baking soda. Rinse the glasses under running water and then dry them with the microfiber cloth. That’s all there is to it!

Etching
Unfortunately, when your glasses are etched, you can’t reverse this. If you want to prevent your glasses from becoming etched, you should wash them by hand instead of using the dishwasher. If you live in an area with soft water instead of hard water, you can prevent etching by using a little less dishwasher detergent, and taking the glasses out of the dishwasher straight after the cycle is done.
