carpet

Cleaning your carpet doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive!

We love the feeling of walking onto a soft, clean carpet with our bare feet. There’s nothing quite like it! Yet carpet definitely isn’t our first choice when it comes to flooring options. It just seems like a lot of maintenance. We’d be walking on eggshells around our own home because we’d be scared to spill something – and, mostly, of having to clean it afterwards. But it turns out that cleaning stains our of your carpet is actually very easy!

You only need two simple, everyday ingredients!

Expensive

When we think of removing stains from carpets, we think of having to call an expensive service to do it for us or buying expensive products full of chemicals to try and scrub it out ourselves. The key word here is ‘expensive’, but there’s actually no need for that at all. Cleaning stains out of a carpet might seem like a very time-consuming and expensive chore, but it doesn’t have to be.

Ingredients

All you need is two cheap ingredients: baking soda and vinegar. These two ingredients can even get out year-old stains! And it’s all natural as well; no need for chemicals. Just mix together some water and vinegar in a large spray bottle; make sure you have a 50/50 ratio.

Removing the stain

Take out the baking soda and completely cover the stain with the white powder. Be careful to cover the entire stain and don’t be afraid to use a good amount of baking soda; sprinkle liberally. Once you’ve covered the stain, take out the water/vinegar mixture, shake it around a little and then spray it directly onto the baking soda. This will cause a bit of a reaction, meaning it’ll start to bubble. Leave this to sit and soak for a couple of hours and then come back to it. The mixture should’ve changed into a paste, but if it hasn’t, add some more of the water/vinegar mixture. Now it’s time to scrub the mixture loose. When the paste starts to flake off, you’ll know it’s done and you’ll see the stain is gone! The final step is to vacuum up the flakes, but only do this when it’s completely dry.
