Bleach
Bleach lifts the colour out of fabric. That’s why it’s not something you can simply get rid of by washing the fabric, once the colour is gone, it’s gone. However, The Guardian has an amazing trick to mask a small bleach stain. Even if you can’t lift the bleach itself from the fabric, you can try and mask the stain by letting the colour fade.
Alcohol
This is what you need to fix small bleach stains: a clear kind of alcohol like vodka or gin and a cotton ball or pad. Saturate the cotton ball with the alcohol and rub it on the stain. The alcohol will make the dye of the fabric spread, thus colouring the bleach stains. Keep rubbing until you hardly notice the stain at all. This doesn’t work on huge stains, but it should work on a small splatter. Rinse the fabric with cold water and wash as usual.
Large stains
Is the fabric stained badly and do the abovementioned tricks not work? Then there’s only one other option, besides throwing the clothing away. You could try bleaching the whole item. Put on rubber gloves and fill a bucket with water. Add a little bleach, no more than a bottle cap. Swirl the clothing item around in the bucket until you’ve reached your desired colour. Empty the bucket and fill it with water. Add 50 millilitres of hydrogen peroxide 3% and put the fabric in the bucket. The hydrogen peroxide will neutralise the bleach. Let it sit for about thirty minutes before rinsing with cold water and washing as usual.
