These 2-ingredient polishing tricks will bring back the shine
Brass, copper and silver are super pretty! Usually these metal items will stay within families for generations; they’re that durable. Unfortunately, they tarnish after a while, which will make them look dingy and old. But we’ve got an easy solution for that!
No need to buy special expensive cleaning products!
Tarnished
After a while, all brass, copper and silver will start to look tarnished. It just happens. The only solution is polishing these items until they’re back to being shiny and looking as good as new. Of course, there are tons of fancy cleaning products out there that claim to make it easier, but there’s no need to buy any of those. All you need are a couple of everyday ingredients you can buy at any supermarket, and you’ll be able to polish your metal items perfectly.
Two ingredients
We’ve got three different polishing tricks for you; one for brass, one for copper and one for silver. All of them require only two ingredients!
- Brass: Squeeze half a lemon above a sponge and sprinkle a generous amount of salt on it as well. Use this to polish your brass item until it shines again. Rinse it under cold water and dry it with a cloth.
- Copper: Squeeze a generous dollop of ketchup on a cloth and also sprinkle salt on top of it. Use this to polish your copper item until it’s back to its original look. Rinse it under cold water and dry it with a cloth.
- Silver: Take a small bowl, and add a tablespoon of water and a tablespoon of baking soda into it. Mix it together into a paste and use this to polish your silver item until it shines again. Rinse it under cold water and dry it with a cloth.
