Have you never cleaned your mattress? If you knew this, you would’ve done so a long time ago

If you knew what’s in your mattress, you’d have done this a long time ago

We all know that wonderful feeling of sleeping under freshly washed sheets. A clean and comfortable bed is enough to make anybody happy. Strangely enough, many people have never cleaned their mattress. If you only knew what can be found on there, you’d probably think again. Because having clean sheets doesn’t necessarily mean you’re sleeping in a clean bed. In fact, it is recommended to clean your mattress twice a year to ensure that the bed you sleep in is actually clean.

How gross can a mattress get?
Have you ever thought about how many skin cells humans lose per hour? Well, millions every hour! These skin cells normally remain on the surface of your sheets, but some of them will blend into the fibers and mingle with your sweat. As a result, they make their way into your mattress. In other words, your mattress needs some serious attention and it is important to clean it.

For people with an allergy to house dust mites, the above is obviously terrible news. For those people it is important to clean the mattress frequently. Especially because dust mites are known to be pretty fond of skin cells! Do you often wake up in the morning with a stuffy, running or itchy nose, and do your eyes hurt when you wake up? Chances are that these little monsters found their way into your bed.

Mattresses double in weight every 10 years
You might never have even thought about this, but it’s a fact that a mattress doubles in weight every 10 years. Your mattress might have already doubled its weight. Firstly, there’s the accumulation of human hair, skin cells, molds, bacteria, dust, and house dust mites. And then there’s the excrements from these house dust mites and dead bugs. Sounds pretty discouraging, right? Don’t worry. Cleaning your mattress isn’t difficult at all and you can do it yourself very easily. Check out the next page, where we’ll explain the steps.
