With this easy trick your drain will stink no more!

We’re sure you’re familiar with it; that nasty, mouldy smell coming from your drain. This is mostly caused by food residue that’s slipped down the drain and gives off an unpleasant smell.

Smelly
It’s one of the most common annoyances in every household: a nasty smell in your bathroom or kitchen. Mould can grow anywhere, especially when it’s very warm or rainy outside. Air freshener only covers the smell and doesn’t do anything about the actual problem. So, it doesn’t work as a long term solution. Chemical products might work, but they’re not always the most healthy or environmentally friendly option to go for. Luckily, there’s a healthy garden-variety solution that’ll make your drain smell completely fresh again!

How to do it:
With just three ingredients you can make your own environmentally friendly drain cleaner. So, what do you need?

  • 100 g baking soda
  • 1 cup white wine vinegar
  • 500 ml hot water

Bring the water up to a boil, and add the white wine vinegar as soon as it boils. Mix it together well. Then, pour the baking soda into the drain you want to clean and pour in the vinegar mixture immediately afterwards. The mix will start to fizz, but don’t worry; it’s supposed to do that! Cover the drain for about an hour and then flush away the mixture. You’ll notice that the smell has disappeared!
