A lot of households have to deal with them and you definitely want them gone fast; those nasty silverfish. If you find yourself with an unwelcome silverfish bug (or even a parade of them) and want to do something about it, here are some easy approaches. Keep on reading.

Silverfish are attracted by humidity. Since new houses are better insulated, the humidity increases, therefore attracting more silverfish. But you’ll won’t only find them in modern houses as them seem to like every place where it’s nice and warm. It’s also pretty annoying knowing they hang out in cold, wet, and dark places like the attic or even under the bathroom sink. We’re pretty sure you would like to receive some tips for first preventing and getting rid of them.

To fight those unwelcome bugs you can do two things; you can either try to catch them or try to scare them away. What you need first is a trap. An empty jam pot, duck tape and a small piece of bread will be needed in order to create the trap.Wrap the jam pot with duck tape and put a piece of bread inside. Place the pot somewhere you know many silverfishes like to hide. The silverfish will crawl into the pot, tempted by the bread, but will not be able to get out of the pot through the smooth glass walls. Too bad for them! To scare the bugs you can also use a spray. Take a spray bottle (this can also be an empty glass bottle) and fill it with 250ml of water. Add a few drops of lavender oil and one lemon juice. Start spreading the spray and see what happens.
