How often do you clean your fridge?
Even though the refrigerator is one of the most important things in your kitchen, many people skip it when they’re cleaning. That’s such a shame, because the fridge is often full of bacteria and cleaning it on a regular basis can even save you a lot of energy!
You might feel the need to clean your fridge after reading that. If so, this manual will help you along the way.
- It would be a good idea to do the cleaning before heading to the supermarket. This way you’ll be cleaning a relatively empty fridge. Before you start, throw away all products that have passed their expiration date. Once you’ve done so, empty the fridge and remove all other separate parts.
- Place all the separate parts in the sink and add dish detergent and enough hot water. Let the parts soak for a while before cleaning them. Dry them well in order to avoid too much humidity in the refrigerator.
- Clean the inside of the refrigerator with a microfiber cloth using a mix of washing soda and dish detergent. The washing soda disinfects and removes all unpleasant smells.
- The drainage hole is also very important when you’re cleaning your fridge. It often gets clogged which can lead to some unpleasant smells! You can use a cotton swab to clean the hole.
- The rubber parts of the fridge can be cleaned with a cloth and some soap. If you find it difficult to reach the dirt, try using a cotton swab or bamboo skewer.
- The backside of the fridge can easily be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner.
- When you’re done and all separate parts are fully dry, you can put them back in the fridge. Make sure the temperature is between 4 and 7 degrees celsius. This way you’ll ward off all the mould and bacteria.
